Values & Culture - The Secret Sauce in your Projects
Presented By: Reid Carr
An engaged and highly-motivated team that consistently delivers projects successfully is a project manager's dream, and research shows employees are most fulfilled and successful when the "why" and "how" of their work aligns with their values. That's a rather large gap: how do we get from values to successful project delivery? In smaller steps, we know that values and behavior create a culture; positive culture leads to employee fulfillment; employee fulfillment drives mission assurance and customer satisfaction. If you've made good on a project mission while keeping your customer happy, you have the definition of a successful project.

"High performance teams rarely occur naturally; they have to be created and managed using effective communication. Understanding the relationship between language and action is critical as is trust and commitment. For in the absence of these connections, extraordinary results are not possible."

Dinner: Blessed by Stress?
Presented By: Debra Hodgen
This month, we will focus on taking care of you, the project manager. If you don't take care of yourself, what good are you to your team and the project as a whole? What is stress? How does it affect us mentally and physically? Are there benefits to being stressed? During this presentation, we will discuss how stress affects us in the workplace. We will learn simple methods and techniques to help balance the demands of work and life. We will understand what works and what doesn't. We will also explore how you, as a project manager, can use your planning skills and abilities to create a "de-stress program" for yourself and your team.
2-PDU Event: Communicating With Intent
Presented By: David Fares, The President and Senior Consultant at New Perspectives, LLC
What is the most difficult aspect of any project? Communication. Quickly drafted e-mails, non-specific phone calls, and poor presentations, all with the best plans or intentions, are not communicated well. The result is misunderstanding, hurt feelings, unmet objectives and sometimes, outright chaos.
