Sunny Shields posted on the forum topic Inexpensive PDU Earning Opportunities in the group Professional Development: 1 week, 2 days ago · View A New idea: Opportunity Five: Look Frward Consulting ($18.38 per PDU) I am not usually in the habit of plugging profit-making companies for free. However, last Novemebr I took a full-day training class on developing high performing project teams from Carlton Nettleson (http://lookforwardconsulting.com/?page_id=220) of Look Forward Consulting. I was sceptical about the value of the [...]

- PMI-SD VP of Communications · 1 week, 1 day agoPMI-SD VP of Communications posted a new activity comment: %sSunny, Thank-you for this string of Comments – ALL VERY VALUABLE INFORMATION!! My recommendations (especially for those who know me) is to share your time on a team and volunteer, it is amazing how fast a group can bond, work together toward a common goal and be able lean on each other in times of crisis. Yes, there I agree there is a PDU benefit in this equation but it is my opinion that relationships and real-time job experience like planning, communicating and leadership far outweigh the PDU Factor. Win-Win for everyone!!

Sunny Shields posted on the forum topic Inexpensive PDU Earning Opportunities in the group Professional Development: 1 week, 2 days ago · View I will start the ball rolling with a few ideas of mine: One of the most cost-effective PDU earning opportunities is involvement with your local PMI chapter! Opportunity One: Chapter Meetings ($35 per PDU) I’m not really much of a “comminity do-gooder” but the reality is that a chapter dinner meeting costs you $35 (see [...]

Sunny Shields started the forum topic Inexpensive PDU Earning Opportunities in the group Professional Development: 1 week, 2 days ago · View It is my observation that, in general, professional development comes at a cost of approximately $100 per PDU. A significant proportion of the courses offered through various training organizations cost up to $700 per day (7 or 8 PDUs). With a requirement to earn 60 PDUs in every 3 year period, this could lead most [...]

Sunny Shields posted on the forum topic CAPM or wait for PMP? in the group Professional Development: 1 week, 2 days ago · View I’d say it depends on whether you expect to be looking for a new job between now and the time you would have enough project management hours to qualify for the PMP. Or if your current employer has an opinion (and/or a rewards program) for being certified in any/specific ways. When I am recruiting, I [...]
