Board of Directors

Wayne Holley

My childhood home was a thousand-acre farm in Alabama. After high school and some college, I went into the Air Force. I was stationed at Travis AFB near San Francisco and then at Elmendorf AFB in Anchorage.

When I left the Air Force in 1973, I remained in Alaska for another twenty-three years. Then, in 1995, I moved to California, first to Julian and then, a few years ago, into San Diego.

During my career, I have lead teams and projects in construction surveying, IT development, finance, residential construction and community development. Teams have included one of about thirty-five employees as Operations Director and another of fifty volunteers as Construction Superintendent.

For the past six years, I have volunteered with PMI-SD, including as Dinner Event Manager, Deputy VP Programs and as Vice President Programs. When the Board of Directors was faced with an unexpected vacancy in the VP Finance office, I was asked to move from VP Programs into that new role as Vice President of Finance for the chapter. I have also served on the Chapter Bylaws Review Committee twice, most recently as chair of the Committee.

I have volueered as a Speaker for PMI-SD North County Roundtable and have an article published in PM Times.

For my entire working career I have been a Contract Project Manager & or Accountant.  After an undergraduate management accounting & certification my first job was devising a project plan to rebuild the financial records for the construction of two S-Class (Super) ferries for the Province of British Columbia, Canada.  The Accpac Plus financial software, had been mis used and implemented so poorly that the Audit team from Delloite could not verify any transactions with a high degree of certainty.

After succesfullly managing that project through completion my family and I immigrated (back for me) to So-Cal and San Diego's North County.  My consulting projects after the move, revolved around fixing or replacing financial or ERP systems and CRM's that were not working properly for Small to medium sized businesses.  I also taught courses in General Ledger through order entry accounting.  In addition to my PMI certifications I hold a CSSBB, I am certified on Salesforce as an Admin, and Pardot for Social media marketing.  I have written restaurant POS systems and have built analytical dashboards for years.  There is nothing in business I enjoy more than working with a team to improve a process from conception to completion. As a class facilitator or teacher, the symphony of a team working constructively and professionally is beautiful music to my ears.

For fun, I love to read about interesting things (six sigma and statistical analysis currently) to see where they take me.  For relaxation I love playing golf.  I really enjoy snorkeling or scuba diving in tropical waters.  The beach is very special to me, it's a place of rejuvination. I am also trying to learn how to play guitar.  I have a pilots license but haven't flown in a few years.
