The “Core Four” Agile Software Development Skills
Presented by: Rob Myers, Agile Institute

Abstract: What is holding your teams back from delivering timely, quality software, within a sane — even enjoyable — work environment? Rob Myers describes the problem as "The Agilist's Dilemma," and the solution has been part of "Agile" all along.

During this interactive session, Rob will diagram the "Core Four" Agile Software Development skills that will help solve this dilemma. He will then have participants explore the dynamics amongst them, by breaking out into small groups for a bit to discuss this dilemma, then return to the big-top Zoom room to explore your biggest concerns. The “Core Four” Skills include:

  • Diligent Refactoring
  • TDD and/or BDD
  • Continuous Integration
  • Pair & Mob Programing.

Come join Rob and other Southern California agilists, project management and business professionals from the Software Development industry, to understand and help implement the “Core Four” on your own projects to help to successfully execute them. Rob is at his best when challenged with questions and skepticism – make sure that you come well-prepared.

Rob Myers has 35 years of professional experience in software development roles, and has been training and coaching organizations in Agile techniques since 1998. His courses blend fun, practical, hands-on coding labs, "Training from the Back of the Room" advanced learning techniques, and relevant first-person stories from both successful and not-so-successful Agile implementations. Rob is also writing a book, Essential Test-Driven Development, for Addison-Wesley, due out later this year.
